What Mac Supremacy??

My friend, Alexander Chow, is a HUGE proponent of Macs. And when I say HUGE, I mean his middle name is probably "IloveSteveJobs". I would confirm, but I haven't had a chance to glance at his birth certificate. Anyhow, Alex has long tried to convince me to purchase a Mac, but we have never quite reached the tipping point. I fundamentally dislike Macs because they're basically a monopoly - you can only get a Mac from, well, Apple. And now, I present to you for your entertainment, a chat to reinforce my position. :)

me: Where ya been?
Haven't seen you online in a long time (before this morning, of course)
Alexander: my hard drive crashed...
and i was waiting for a new computer (yes, i got a new computer out of it)
me: On your MAC????

Alexander: it was like a seagate or something like that

Alexander: anyhow... since I was due for a refresh, my company upgraded me. computer

me: Yes...but that's MUCH different from the actual components dying!
In fact, you could say it's even better...when a foreign object enters the system, the Lenovo KILLS it
Unfortunately it was inside my screen instead of outside, but that's beside the point.

Alexander: no... you see.. your lenovo had a design flaw that allowed a bug to crawl under the screen. for my mac, it is still functional... its just that the third party hard drive it was using died

So you're saying Apple's inability to partner with a sound hard drive producer has no bearing on Apple's credibility or quality...very nice

I've had laptop issues with my PC's...but have never had a hard drive FAIL.

To Facebook, or not to Facebook

I've been resistant to leave xanga for a long time, and it bugs me to no end when people say "Xanga is dead". I think Xanga is only dead when you type www.xanga.com into the address field and you get an error message.

Anyway, I've also been resistant to setting up a Facebook page, cause sometimes there is just TOO much information floating around out there about yourself. I do like the social networking aspect, but thus far it hasn't been enough of a pull to get me to set up a page. Nevertheless, I was browsing around on Facebook and decided to see if there are currently any "Yee Feng"s out there. Turns out there are...I found this (It's not my Facebook page-I still haven't set one up!)

That last line is pretty darn hilarious. I mean, I know I'm not popular...but that's just brutal!!! :)

SNOW!!!!

It has been snowing a RIDONCULOUS amount here in Seattle. It started on on Wednesday, picked up even more late Thursday evening, let up on Friday, and then the skies UNLOADED yesterday and haven't really stopped since. They were warning of high winds up to 70mph and there were fears of widespread power outtages, but we've been safe so far! Church was even cancelled so we had virtual church!

This past weekend we flew down to visit my brother and sister-in-law in the Bay Area. Though I can't stand being landlocked in the Bay Area and having to find a high-paying job there to survive, I CAN stand the ridiculously good food and hangin' with some of the coolest Fengs ever. My brother and sister-in-law live less than a minute from one of their best friends. Literally...he lives 4 houses away and we WALKED over for milk and cookies on Saturday night.

Makes me want to call up all of my friends and convince at least one of them to move in to the vacant house around the corner from us. For all you Californians, there is no state income tax up here in Washington state (instant 10% raise!!!), the area is significantly greener than San Diego, the air is fresher, and you can hang w/the Fengs any time you want. Seriously. You don't even have to call. Just show up and we'll hang like a Philip Rivers bomb to Vincent Jackson.

We'll even cook for you! Caveat: Or not...actually, not is probably better for your long-term health. Caveat to my caveat - my beautiful wife has been knocking it out of the park lately with her entrees, as evidenced by my belly putting up a good challenge to hers, and I think I'm going to have to revise my long-held observation on Beacon Hill cuisine pretty soon.

Got a new Canon 50D in preparation for Haribo's arrival, too...and of course, Miso is our favorite test subject prior to Haribo's grand entrance!

God finally blessed us with a new dog! After months of dropping by shelters and pursuing Craigslist ads in vain, we figured perhaps it was God telling us it was time to give up the search. Car responded to one final Craigslist ad, we drove up to Marysville (40 minutes away) later that day, and we've now had Miso for a couple of weeks! She's quite a looker, eh? She's 6 months old - 3/4 beagle, 1/4 dachsund, and 4/4 fun!

You betcha!!! Since I'm cheapo and we have limited basic cable, I found a website streaming ESPN and hooked my laptop up to our TV so I could watch my beloved Bolts beat the stuffing out of the Jets! Car is the best wife ever...talked her into wearing a Merriman jersey during the game! Oh...and I was singing the "San Deeeyago, Soooper Chargers!" song to Haribo to make sure he knew where our allegiances fall (and yes, we're having a BOY!!!!)

Carolyn and I will be going to our second ultrasound this Friday morning, where we'll be finding out Haribo's gender. (Don't worry...Haribo's just a nickname for the baby until we find out whether we've got a boy or a girl! Our friend first introduced us to this game and we figured it'd be a cool way to invite you to join us in this amazing adventure! So, if you dare to venture a guess, you'll need to follow these simple instructions:

Bah and Mom are up visiting here in Seattle for about two weeks. I showed them the wonders of the webcam and Skype before they left for a mini-vacation w/my in-laws. They headed down to Oregon with them and hung out @ a time share for a week, and it appears they had a blast! How do I know?
