To Facebook, or not to Facebook

I've been resistant to leave xanga for a long time, and it bugs me to no end when people say "Xanga is dead". I think Xanga is only dead when you type www.xanga.com into the address field and you get an error message.

Anyway, I've also been resistant to setting up a Facebook page, cause sometimes there is just TOO much information floating around out there about yourself. I do like the social networking aspect, but thus far it hasn't been enough of a pull to get me to set up a page. Nevertheless, I was browsing around on Facebook and decided to see if there are currently any "Yee Feng"s out there. Turns out there are...I found this (It's not my Facebook page-I still haven't set one up!)

Yee Feng

That last line is pretty darn hilarious. I mean, I know I'm not popular...but that's just brutal!!! :)

Don't quit xanga...but doesn't mean you can't start a FB too. :)

Facebook is for happy stuff, xanga is more of my darker thoughts :p (you can't be dark on fb)

i'm totally with you regarding facebook! i guess i'm just a private person. and my husband doesn't have too many pet peeves, but one of them is fb and how they track your internet usage or something to that effect.

two thoughts: no need to think of fbook as competition for xanga, you can have both. i for one just don't feel like writing much lately...

the great thing about facebook is that it isn't public. you can be on and have almost nothing about you "out there" for anyone to see. it's just nice to be networked on pictures. plus, you can set your privacy settings really high, and only allow the most elite of your friends to see whatever you want them to see-- about you, or photo albums, whatever. you've got the control, man.

(sadly, i couldn't see whatever you linked to on the yee feng line.)

Yee Feng -Friends
Show:
Yee has no friends.

I understand that you can have fairly stringent privacy settings on FB. I also dislike all the ridiculous clubs and games that you get notifications of all the time. I mean, who really wants to be a member of the "I made a t-shirt out of banana peels and pumpkin seeds" club??? ;) (Yes, I'm exaggerating, but not by much!)

i held out for a while too.  the extra apps are silly and you can block them all, which is what i do.  i can post to xanga but link it to my fb acct -but i found that more of my friends are on fb now so i just post notes there.  and its mostly nice b/c i can post videos and pics of the boys there and not have to send out an email to anyone about it.
